I've loved taking pictures ever since I was a little girl. I can remember running around with my Instamatic on spring mornings taking pictures of snow-covered daffodils. I can also remember how disappointed I was when I received the developed prints from the local drugstore. The photos looked nothing like what I saw with my own eyes -- the pictures that I wanted to capture and share with my family and friends.

Over the years, I've learned how to produce photos that are a lot closer to what I see and, in some cases, to what I imagine. So much has changed since my childhood, and the visual possibilities in photography are literally limitless, and by extension, so is the potential for communication through my art.

In the last several years, I have explored the depths of the art of digital composite photography, which has taken me on an entirely new and exciting artistic journey. This is more than just taking pictures, which, of course, is an art in itself, and which I certainly do not mean to underestimate. However, for me, composite photography expands the boundaries of my artistic workspace. It incorporates the melding of images, textures, other media and backgrounds with various blending modes, filters, brushes, and lighting effects to create totally unique compositions. Using such tools, I can "paint" in different styles, transform reality, and intensify the visual experience in any given realm. Imagination’s the thing!

As you peruse my work, you will notice that I make reference to a number of artists whose work I have combined, by permission, with my own. They are all extraordinary artists, and I thank them for the use of their art. Also, someone who absolutely must be credited with so much of what I have achieved and who has opened my eyes to the endless capabilities of the photographic art is Sebastian Michaels. He is one of the most knowledgeable, inspiring, and generous teachers I have ever encountered. My sincerest thanks to you, Sebastian!
